Khushi Thawani, Mumbai Uncensored, 7th February 2023:

The Mira-Bhayander-Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police commissioner Madhukar Pandey has determined that all complaints made by women, even if they seem “minor,” must be taken seriously by the police force in light of the Shraddha Walkar murder case.

Pandey unveiled an initiative called “Operation Punha Dhairya” on Friday to make sure of this. Under this, police would monitor the victims to make sure they are secure and will review all complaints, including FIRs, written applications, and even oral complaints, filed by women over the past three years.
On November 23, 2020, Shraddha Walkar, who was murdered in New Delhi by her live-in partner, lodged a written complaint against Aftab Poonawala at the Tulinj police station. She said in her complaint that Poonawala had attempted to kill her and that she was afraid he would dismember her and discard her parts.

The police stated they were unable to conduct an investigation and had to accept the complainant’s requests because she had withdrawn the plea. The father of Walkar claims that his daughter would be alive today if the police had taken the issue properly.

According to Commissioner Pandey, each complainant in one of these cases over the last three years would be summoned by an official and asked if their complaint has actually been settled or still exists. In several instances of domestic violence, abuse, and stalking, the police detain the suspect and provide counselling to both the victim/complainant and the offender. The cops occasionally presume that the issue has been resolved. However, despite the police’s assistance, the issue still exists, according to Pandey.

He also added, “many women say that even after serving a sentence, their husbands have returned and abused them more.”He added that with Operation Punha Dhairya, the victims who are ignored or who suffer the same crime but are unable to report it will get a voice and they would be able to report the crime.

The police will inquire these women about the situation and take appropriate action if they respond that they are still being harassed or assaulted.
According to Pandey, the MBVV region has seen an uptick in crime against women over the previous few years.

2017 saw 1,194 occurrences of crime against women, according to statistics. There were 1,541 instances in 2019 and 1,775 cases in 2021. In contrast, the number of rape cases increased from 176 in 2017 to 220 in 2019 to 292 in 2021. Even the total crime rate in the MBVV region increased from 1,523 instances in 2019 to 2,993 cases in 2021 when compared to the year before the epidemic.

The father of the victim, Sanjay Singh, filed an FIR in the matter, naming five unidentified youths as the assailants. The incident occurred on Monday night, around 9:30 PM, and was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the building.

Controversial ‘Annapoorani’ Sparks FIR for Alleged Promotion of Love Jihad; Contrasts Netflix’s Refusal of ‘The Kerala Story’

Siddhant Mohite, Mumbai:

Nayanthara’s milestone 75th film, ‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food,’ has landed in hot water as an FIR has been filed against the movie by the Mumbai police. A complaint lodged at LT Marg Police Station alleges that the film promotes Love Jihad, citing a scene where actor Jai makes a controversial statement about Lord Ram’s dietary preferences, causing hurt to religious sentiments. This development comes after the movie’s digital premiere on Netflix faced criticism, with the Hindu IT Cell filing a formal complaint with Mumbai police, accusing the film of misrepresenting Valmiki’s Ramayana and criticizing Lord Ram.

Directed by Nilesh Krishnaa, ‘Annapoorani’ features Nayanthara, Jai, and Sathyaraj in lead roles, hitting theaters on December 1, 2023. Despite the movie’s milestone status, it received a lukewarm response at the box office, grossing Rs 5 crore.

According to reports from The Republic, the complaint alleges that a particular scene in the movie portrays actor Jai asserting that Lord Ram was a meat eater, leading to an offense against religious sentiments. The controversy intensified after the film’s digital release on the OTT platform Netflix.

The narrative of ‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’ revolves around a girl aspiring to become a chef. As the daughter of a Hindu temple pujari, she faces challenges in preparing non-vegetarian food. The movie sparked controversy for a scene depicting her performing the Islamic prayer Namaz with a scarf covering her head before a cooking competition. Nayanthara’s character in the film recalls a friend’s comment that her Biryani tasted exceptional when prepared after performing Namaz. This scene has stirred controversy, as it is seen as offensive to religious sentiments.

Adding to the unfolding controversy is the fact that Netflix, a prominent OTT platform, chose to release ‘Annapoorani,’ despite its contentious content. This decision has raised eyebrows, especially in light of the platform’s refusal to release the movie ‘The Kerala Story,’ which exposed Love Jihad, further amplifying concerns within the Hindu community.

The Mumbai police’s decision to file an FIR against ‘Annapoorani’ reflects the seriousness of the allegations, and as this situation evolves, Mumbai Uncensored will continue to monitor and report on developments surrounding this controversial film.

Corruption Scandal Unveiled: BMC Officials Accused of Siphoning Off Crores Meant for Laborers in Mumbai’s Cleanliness Schemes

Siddhant Mohite, Mumbai Uncensored, 7th December 2023:

Mumbai Uncensored has unearthed a shocking case of corruption involving high-ranking officials in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The scandal, exposed by social worker Mr. Rameez Raja, reveals a systematic embezzlement of funds intended for laborers engaged in the Swachhata Yojna, Motor Loading, Manning & Mopping Scheme.

In 2007, BMC initiated these schemes, employing laborers through registered NGOs. Alarming details emerged regarding their paltry daily wages, which ranged from Rs. 141 in early 2007 to a marginal increase of Rs. 144 to Rs. 146 in 2008. Concerns over unjust wages prompted BMC’s standing committee to pass resolutions in 2010 and 2011, specifying minimum wages for laborers through circulars dated 30.4.2011 and 2.9.2021.

However, Mumbai Uncensored’s investigation reveals a nefarious plot within the BMC’s Western Suburbs (Zone 3). SWM Executive Engineer Mr. Chandan Shive, along with a network of SWM officials, allegedly manipulated funds. Instead of ensuring fair compensation to NGOs and, consequently, laborers, these officials diverted a substantial portion—estimated between 20-22 crores—for personal gain.

Trusted sources affirm that Mr. Rameez Raja, a vigilant social worker, has sent a detailed letter to the Chief Minister outlining the corruption. Raja emphasizes the urgent need for a thorough investigation and the suspension of implicated BMC officials. The funds, he insists, rightfully belong to the laborers who toiled diligently to maintain the city’s cleanliness.

Mumbai Uncensored has obtained a copy of a letter from Mr. Hemant Sawant, additional deputy commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Department, Mumbai. Addressed to BMC Commissioner Mr. Iqbal Singh Chahal, the letter lists multiple complaints received from citizens, the Maharashtra Government, and the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Despite these grave allegations, no visible actions have been taken by the BMC.

This revelation raises serious questions about the integrity of BMC officials and their commitment to addressing corruption within their ranks. Mumbai Uncensored will continue to investigate and report on this matter to ensure accountability and justice for the laborers who deserve their rightful compensation.
